PERRYSBURG, Ohio (13abc Action News) – Senior citizens in our area are being kicked to the curb. They’ve been told they need to leave their apartments immediately.
Now the 13abc I-Team getting answers as to why and whether there’s any way they can stay.
It’s all happening in Perrysburg at the Harbor Town Senior Residence off Route 25, south of Roachton road.
The language in the letter is crystal clear. It uses phrases such as “not qualified to reside,” “no exceptions,” “not negotiable,” and “vacate immediately.”
“I just thought what a nightmare,” said a resident who did not want to be identified.
This resident received the letter, despite moving into Harbor Town a few months ago.
“I thought I was there for the duration of my life,” said the resident.
That looks like it’s no longer the case. According to the letter, sent from a regional manager, it says this woman needs to be out immediately. The letter says this property is a section 42 tax credit senior community and it says her income is over the income threshold to live here.
But she has the exact same income as when she first applied to live here and when she moved in.
“I thought there’s more to this, right away. Something’s not right here,” said the resident.
The I-Team talked to another resident who has lived here for several years. She got the same letter saying she needs to be out, immediately. Her income also has not changed in years.
“Some people have already left. I saw one lady on the elevator 2 weeks ago crying and I asked her why and she said I have to move,” said the resident.
We reached out to the owners, MIller Valentine Group, Monday for comment, but they have not returned our call.
